ARRIVAL PARO – THIMPU

After arriving & visa formalities and collection of baggage, you will be welcomed by our tour representative who will be your tour guide during your entire trip in Bhutan. Check into your hotel in Thimpu. Afternoon tour of Tashichho Dzong/ Thimpu Dzong, is a Buddhist monastery cum fortress at the northern edge of Thimpu the capital city of Bhutan. The National Memorial was built by Bhutan's third king, H.M. Jigme Dorji Wangchuck who is also known as the "father of modern Bhutan." THIMPHU

After breakfast, we visit The Changangkha Lhakhang temple is an early medieval Buddhist temple in the capital city Thimpu. The temple is situated on a ridge overlooking the city, near Mohitang on the outskirts of Thimpu. The temple is the oldest temple in Thimpu and was constructed by Lama Phajo Drukgom Zhigpo in the 12 century AD. Visit Buddha Point, Takin Mini Zoo and Post office for Stamp. The Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory is a small paper factory located in Thimpu that produces paper using traditional Bhutanese methods. The paper products produced at the factory are made from Daphne or Mulberry plant bark.

Day 3

THIMPU – PUNAKHA

Post early breakfast, you will drive towards Punakha via Dochula Pass. We will stop over for tea at Dochula (3,100m), where on a sunny day; you can get stunning views of the Himalayan ranges. Visit the ChimiLhakang a Buddhist monastery located in the Punakha District of Bhutan. The monastery stands on a small hill close to the village of Lobesa and was constructed in 1499 by Ngawang Choegyel, the 14th Drukpa hierarchy. The Punakha Dzong or the is located at the confluence of the Mo Chhu and the Po Chhu River, combine to form the Puna Tsang Chu which in turn is a tributary of the mighty Brahmaputra River. The Dzong was constructed by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal Wangchuck in 1638.

Day 4

PUNAKHA – PARO

After early morning breakfast, we will be driven towards Paro. Lunch in Paro. Continue with tour of Rinpung Dzong (Paro Dzong). The Paro Dzong is probably Bhutan's best known and most iconic Dzong. The Rinpung Dzong's names translate to the “Fortress on a heap of Jewels ". The fortress was constructed in 1644 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal on the foundations of an ancient monastery. Check in at pre booked Hotel in Paro.

Day 5

PARO

You will have an early breakfast and walk about 2 hours to Taktshang Monastery perched giddily on a rocky ledge, with a waterfall cascading as if from the blue. Taktshang means ‘Tiger’s Nest’. Guru Padmasambhava, known as the Second Buddha, alighted from flying tigress and meditated at this shrine in the second half of the 8th century. As a result, it is the dream destination for Buddhist pilgrims from the world over. If desired, pony ridings would be arranged. Visit to Kyichu temple which dates back to the 7th century. Kyichu temple is one of the last three surviving temples. In the 7th century 108 such temples were built by a Tibetan King. To date only three have survived, two in Bhutan and one in Tibet, known as the Jokhang. Visit a Bhutanese farm house to see how a Bhutanese farmer lives. In the morning after early breakfast we will see you off at the Paro Airport for your onward destinations.
